You know how much we love our vintage MIDI gear, and apparently our friend Ronny from Das Kraftfuttermischwerk is every bit as big a fan as we are. To that end, he’s taken Music Radar’s recent guide to all-things Roland and turned it into an awesome (…

Synth pioneer Roger Linn shows us his new analog drum machine, Tempest (video)
We were wandering around the crowded, noisy halls of this year’s NAMM show when a particularly freaked-out drum pattern struck our eardrums. We followed the sound and encountered a gray-haired, bespectacled gentleman tapping and tweaking knobs so prof…

Pioneer DJM-2000 digital mixer sports multitouch screen, per-frequency mixing delight
Ready to graduate from DJ Hero? Got a house payment handy? Then Pioneer would like to show you the way to the pros. Say hello to the DJM-2000, a four-channel digital mixer built around a 5.8-inch multitouch screen and sporting enough knobs, buttons and sliders for a NASA launch sequence. Designed to play nice with the matching CDJ-2000 players Pioneer released last year, the unit features an integrated audio effects suite with six dedicated processors and several intriguing modes for multitouch music control. While the mixer has the traditional crossfade slider that allows DJs to assign a certain percentage of the output to channels on the left and right, the DJM-2000 debuts with “frequency mix,” a mode that lets DJs assign within seven narrow frequency bands as well by manipulating virtual sliders on the touchscreen, and a “sidechain remix” mode that uses the screen to apply custom effects in real time. Yeah, it’s not as wild as some other touchscreen DJ rigs we’ve seen, but at least this one’s for sale: Pioneer says the mixer will retail for $3000 this June. Droolworthy video demonstrations after the break.

DJ Mouse to Make You the Life of Your Office Cubicle [Peripherals]
While others around you click away with Corporate’s stock mouse, you can mix it up with DJ Tech’s DJ Mouse.
The aluminum “feel” body is loaded with both jog and scroll wheels, meaning you can just as easily scroll through a spreadsheet as complete that Miley Cyrus/Styx mash-up sure to land you on the fast track to the Big Promotion. And yes, that big SCRATCH button actually allows you to scratch MP3s in real time (using bundled software).
The DJ Mouse is available now for $79. Of course, those of us who make sound effects with our mouths really frown upon this sort of thing. [DJ Mouse via Everything USB via OhGizmo!]
