Check out a little bit of art created on spec for Ridley Scott’s new Alien prequel by Dan LuVisi. This art isn’t being used in the film, but it’s still neat to see one possible reimagining of the Xenom…

Tron Legacy score contributions by Daft Punk leaked?
What some are identifying as the Daft Punk score for Disney’s Tron Legacy movie has been leaked. I blame Julian Assange.
Book Of Eli Directors Want Akira Next [Akira]
Rumors are circulating that the Hughes Brothers’ next project could be a live-action remake of Akira. But they don't just want one film — the Warner Brothers picture is planned as a two-parter.
New York Magazine says Warners is in negotiations with the Albert and Allen Hughes to direct a live-action remake of Otomo’s cult classic manga Akira. The script is from Iron Man and Children of Men writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. Which, last we heard, was being tweaked by the team last September, after Ruairi Robinson left the picture.
It sounds like WB has found two people ready to tackle this insane project — if only their Book of Eli hadn’t been such a disappointment, we’d be more excited. That being said, we’ve got great faith in the screenplay based on the writers’ previous work.
And yes, Leonardo DiCaprio is still slightly involved, but only because his company, Appian Way, is attached to the project. So keep your Leo for Kaneda campaigning to yourself — this part was made for Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
As far as the rumors that this Akira will be set in a Neo New York, instead of a Neo Tokyo, we have no clue. Right now let’s just focus on the directors, and hope that if the Hughes brothers do get the project, they treat The Capsules with the respect they so deserve. And the news that WB wants the film to be a two-parter is definitely a step in the right direction.
Explaining The Entire Plot Of Kick-Ass Just Makes Us Want To See It More [Kick-ass]
The new Kick-Ass trailer is out, and it pretty much narrates the entire film — which only makes us more desperate to fill in the ultra-violent, blatantly wrong and nasty blanks. Plus the A-Team trailer has turned up online too.
Here’s the new Kick-Ass trailer — you can watch it in high res over at Yahoo! Movies.
And the A-Team trailer turned up online earlier today. Like James Bond and MacGyver, The A-Team takes place in a world of slightly fantastic technologies, but I'm not sure it's quite science-fictional enough for us — on the other hand, as reader Chris Hunt points out, it does have a tank flying through the sky. Anyway, judge for yourself. It's no longer online in an embeddable format, but here’s a non-embeddable version on Youtube. (Thanks OMGWTFLOLBBQBYE!)
Ghost In The Shell To Be Live-Action 3D Bionic Woman… Kinda [Ghost In The Shell]
Dreamworks are moving ahead with their plans for a live-action English-language version of manga classic Ghost In The Shell, assigning a high-profile new writer and announcing that it’ll also be in 3D. We’re calling it now: It’s the next Avatar.
Variety report that Laeta Kalogridis – newly hot in Hollywood after completing the script for the upcoming Martin Scorcese movie Shutter Island, but better known to us as writer and executive producer for the Bionic Woman reboot of 2007 – will replace originally-announced writer Jamie Moss on the project, which Dreamworks is now planning to make in 3D.
The movie will be produced by Avi and Ari Arad, perhaps more familiar to fans as executive producers on Marvel movies like Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Iron Man.

Akira Lives! [Akira]
Forget what you’ve previously heard: The live-action movie version of Akira is still happening and, if nothing else, it’s probably going to have a great script.
Collider is reporting that the silence surrounding the movie has been the result of waiting for Children of Men and Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby to complete the script, and that the project is still considered a “high priority” with a potential 2011 release date if the script is approved. Here’s hoping that rumored star Joseph Gordon-Levitt won’t be too busy with GI Joe sequels.

Guy Ritchie Moves from Steampunk Holmes to Alien Bounty Hunting [Lobo]
Now that Sherlock Holmes is in the can, Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct Lobo, featuring DC’s anti-hero bounty hunter. But while Ritchie may bring some edge to the effects-driven film, Warner Bros. is still shooting for PG-13. [Variety]
Family Guy Creators Tease Just How Their Empire Will Strike Back In Next Star Wars Spoof [Family Guy]
Family Guy will soon revisit Star Wars, as the show’s Comic Con panel unveiled new footage from their upcoming Empire Strikes Back parody. The entire episode is due out by Christmas – if they can get it done in time.
The footage they screened promised a mix of targeted Star Wars riffs and references to science fiction in general, with both Elroy Jetson and Leonard Nimoy’s mailbox putting in appearances. The clips also showed the Rebels taking doomed gunner Dak Ralter’s pre-battle boast surprisingly literally, as well as just who is allowed to use the term “nerf herder.” Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane also mentioned that James Woods will have a cameo in the episode. The episode had once been planned to premiere towards the end of Family Guy‘s current season, but MacFarlane is optimistic they can get it out by the end of 2009.
Looking even further ahead, showrunner David Goodman, who also wrote the Star Trek mega-homage “Where No Fan Has Gone Before” on Futurama, is currently working on the final part of the parody trilogy. Their Return of the Jedi spoof was originally entitled Episode VI: The Great Muppet Caper in reference to its infamously cuddly Ewoks, but fears of copyright infringement made them go with the current title Episode VI: We Have A Bad Feeling About This. Whatever the title, I think it’s fair to say we can expect no shortage of Ewok jokes.
