We heard back at IFA that Sony was making the absolutely brilliant move of incorporating a market leading navigational system into its Xplod line of in-dash A/V units, and now that love is being shipped across the Atlantic (or the Pacific, if you’re t…

Rockchip shows off Android-based desk phone, won’t sell you one
We unfortunately didn’t spot this one ourselves at IFA, but it looks like Rockchip had more than just the usual tablets on display at the show — it also had this Android-based desk phone tucked away at its booth. Before you get too excited, however (…
Philips GoGear Connect is a legitimate Android-based iPod touch competitor (updated)
For all its success, the iPod touch has few dedicated media player competitors capable of matching its big-touchscreen, WiFi, and voluminous App Store. Until today. Philips just went official with its GoGear Connect featuring the full suite of Google …
DigitalCube shows off sexy iSTATION S3 PMP
We’ll just go ahead and get the bad news out of the way: if you call yourself a North American, and you’re not gutsy enough to find an importer, you’ll probably never own the downright beautiful device shown above. Known as the iSTATION S3, DigitalCube‘s latest arrives with 8/16/32GB of storage, an HDMI output, a battery good for 20 hours of audio playback (or 8 hours of video), an expansive 3.5-inch AMOLED display, WVGA (800 x 480) resolution and support for a veritable smorgasbord of file formats. Sadly, we’ve no price or release date to share, but by all means, give that read link a tap if you’re looking for more eye candy.

Fujitsu Esprimo Q1500 flexes Blu-ray muscle on video
The Esprimo Q1500, which might remind you of a Mac Mini, is back with the mischievous intent to show off the wares that Apple won’t let you have. Though we suspected the Intel CPU inside would be a CULV variant, it turns out to be no less than a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo T9600 — and it got a good workout by the awesome Engadget Spanish crew, who ran a 720p video in Windows Media Player alongside a Blu-ray movie without any hiccups. The good news extends to the machine itself, which remained quiet in operation and cool to the touch a full 10 minutes into its mini torture test. If we said prices for the top config might be a little cheaper than expected, would you finally be excited? Video after the break.

T-Mobile Pulse runs Android, headed for Europe

Not that our Stateside T-Mobile needs much help scoring Android handsets, but this phone looks strictly reserved for our European brethren. The T-Mobile Pulse is actually Huawei’s U8220, which looks a little drab compared to its U8230 sibling, and works in what seems to be standard smartphone specs these days: 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5-inch 320 x 480 screen, HSDPA, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. The 2GB SD card and mere 3.5 hours of talk time leave a bit to be desired, and the 13.5mm thickness is almost as beastly as Nokia’s latest, but we’re sure the Pulse means well. No word on a straight price, but in Germany with a two year agreement prices start at 5 Euro a month.
